Formation:

Verb-ますstem + もしないで

Example sentences:

聞きもしないで、どうしてそんなことがわかるんだい?
How do you know without even asking?
kiki mo shinaide, doushite sonna koto ga wakarun dai.

 

彼女は好きなワルツが始まってもふりむきもしないで、窓ガラスに額をおしつけた。
She stood by the window, never minding that her favorite waltz had begun.
kanojo wa suki na warutsu ga hajimatte mo furimuki mo shinaide, mado garasu ni hitai o oshitsuketa.

 

彼女は書類をろくに読みもしないで、「もうわたしに用はないわね」と言って立ち上がった。
Wasting no time on the document, she rose to her feet and said, “You require me no longer?”
kanojo wa shorui o roku ni yomi mo shinaide, mou watashi ni you wa nai wa ne to itte tachiagatta.

 

父は手紙を受けとって、読みもしないでポケットにおしこんだ。
My father thrust the letter into his pocket without even reading it.
chichi wa tegami o uketotte, yomi mo shinaide poketto ni oshikonda.

 

彼はある書類を他の書類の間へ紛れこませてしまって、読みもしないで署名をした。
A casual paper slipped in among others, and he signed it without reading.
kare wa aru shorui o hoka no shorui no aida e magirekomasete shimatte, yomi mo shinaide shomei o shita.

 

老人はその箱を手にとって、しばらく開きもしないでじっとながめた。
The old man took that box and gazed at it for some time without opening it.
roujin wa sono hako o te ni totte, shibaraku hiraki mo shinaide jitto nagameta.

彼女は、ずきんを脱ぎ、立ちどまりもしないで、さっさと奥の化粧室へはいって行った。
She let fall her hood, and without stopping, she went on into the dressing room.
kanojo wa, zukin o nugi, tachidomari mo shinaide, sassato oku no keshoushitsu e haitte itta.

彼女は長いこと目を見ひらいたまま、身動きもしないでじっとしていた。彼女には、その目の輝きが、まっ暗ななかで、自分自身にも見えるような気がした。
A long while she lay, not moving, with open eyes, whose brilliance she almost fancied she could herself see in the darkness.
