Learn Japanese N1 Grammar with Flashcard

Meaning: as much as; as many as

You use からある/からする/からの to express the huge quantity of something.

からある refers to the number, height, volume or weight.
からする refers to the price of something.
からの refers to the number of people or the amount of money.

Formation:

Noun + からある/からする/からの

Example sentences:

そのデモには20万人からの人が参加したそうだ。
I heard that as many as 200,000 people participated in that strike.
sono demo niwa nijuu mannin kara no hito ga sanka shita sou da.

 

100キロからある荷物を5階まで運ぶには、足腰の強い人が3人は必要だ。
We need three strong men to carry the 100 kilo luggage to the fifth floor.
hyaku kiro kara aru nimotsu o gokai made hakobu niwa, ashikoshi no tsuyoi hito ga sannin wa hitsuyou da.

 

今年のスピーチコンテストには1000人からの人が集まった。
As many as one thousand people gathered at the speech contest this year.
kotoshi no supiichi kontesuto niwa sennin kara no hito ga atsumatta.

 

長さ5メートルからある蛇が、突然、目の前に現れた。
A five-meter snake suddenly appeared in front of me.
nagasa gomeetoru kara aru hebi ga, totsuzen, me no mae ni arawareta.

I heard that she inherited five hundred million yen.
kanojo wa go oku’en no isan o souzoku shita sou da.
