Example sentences:

I met him two years ago when he came to Japan.
kare ga ni’nen mae ni nihon e kita ori ni aimashita.

 

御多忙の折に、わたしのために色々とお骨折り下さって、まことにありがとうございます。
Thank you so much for all you have done in this busy time.
gotabou no ori ni, watashi no tame ni iroiro to ohoneori kudasatte, makoto ni arigatou gozaimasu.

 

婚約の折に夫に買ってもらった指輪をなくしてしまった。
I lost the ring my husband bought me for our engagement.
kon’yaku no ori ni otto ni katte moratta yubiwa o nakushite shimatta.

 

来日の折には、わたしがご案内します。
I’ll show you around when you come to Japan.
rainichi no ori niwa, watashi ga goannai shimasu.

 

数年前、わたしは気楽な個人旅行の折にここを通ったことがある。
I have traveled the passageway a few years before as part of a leisurely private tour.
suunen mae, watashi wa kiraku na kojin ryokou no ori ni koko o tootta koto ga aru.

 

明子はそう言って辞職した。店を出ていくおりに、これまで支払われなかった休暇手当として、一億円を要求した。
Akiko said that and quit. She also demanded 100 million yen in unused vacation pay on her way out the store.

On my foreign visits I quickly found that many of our embassies had superb works of art which added greatly to the impression people had of Britain.
watashi wa gaikoku ryokou no ori, kakuchi no igirisu taishikan ni kazatta aru subarashii sakuhin ni yotte, hitobito ga igirisu ni tai shite hijou ni yoi inshou o idaite iru koto ni, sugu ni ki ga tsuita mono da.

I met this woman and her husband in the dining-car while I was travelling from New York to my farm in Missouri.
watashi wa, nyuuyooku kara mizuuri shuu ni aru watashi no noujou e dekaketa ori ni, shokudousha no naka de kono fujin to goshujin ni deatta no datta.
