Formation:

案の定 + phrase

Example sentences:

案の定、筆記試験は難しかった。
Just as I thought, the written exam was difficult.
an no jou, hikki shiken wa muzukashikatta.

あの堤防は、案の定今回の台風で決壊してしまった。
Just as we thought, that embankment collapsed because of the typhoon.
ano teibou wa, an no jou konkai no taifuu de kekkai shite shimatta.

案の定、山田さんだった。
Just as I thought, it was Yamada.
an no jou, yamada san datta.

彼女は車庫へと駆け出した。案の定、父の車はなかった。
She ran out to the garage. Sure enough, her father’s car was gone.
kannojo wa shako eto kakedashita. an no jou, chichi no kuruma wa nakatta.

案の定、一夜にして状況は逆転した。
Sure enough, the tide turned, overnight.
an no jou, ichiya ni shite joukyou wa gyakuten shita.

案の定、不安定さ、暴力、過激主義が広がり、経済も崩壊した。
Sure enough, instability, violence, and extremism swelled, and the economy crumbled.
an no jou, fuanteisa, bouryoku, kageki shugi ga hirogari, keizai mo houkai shita.

案の定追手はあとを追って入ってこないで、正面入口から私が出てきたら捕まえようと道をそのまま走っていった。
As I expected, my pursuer, instead of following me in, ran down the street to cut me off when I emerged by the main entrance.
an no jou otte wa ato o otte haitte konaide, shoumen iriguchi kara watashi ga dete kitara tsukamaeyou to michi o sono mama hashitte itta.

案の定、ヘリコプターは完全に方向転換し、木の上をかすめながらふたたび向かってきた。
Sure enough, the chopper banked fully and was now coming back our way.
an no jou, herikoputaa wa kanzen ni houkou tenkan shi, ki no ue o kasumenagara futatabi mukatte kita.

案の定、白夜計画が始動するやいなや、ソ連政府は石油輸出に税金を課すという考えをもてあそびはじめた。
Sure enough, as soon as the White Nights joint venture got going, the Russian government began toying with a tax on oil exports.
an no jou, byakuya keikaku ga shidou suru ya ina ya, soren seifu wa sekiyu yushutsu ni zeikin o kasu to iu kangae o moteasobihajimeta.
