We use てごらん to address subordinates.

Formation:

Verb-てform + ごらん

Example sentences:

もう一度言ってごらん。
mou ichido itte goran.
Why don’t you say that again?

二ページを見てごらん。
ni peeji o mite goran.
Look at page two.

君はその理由を知っている。考えてごらん。
kimi wa sono riyuu o shitteiru. kangaete goran.
You know that reason. Think.

おいしいから、食べてごらん。
oishii kara, tabete goran.
It’s good. Try it.

苦くないからちょっと飲んでごらん。
nigakunai kara chotto nonde goran.
It’s not bitter. Take a sip.

わからなかったら、先生に聞いてごらん。
wakaranakattara, sensei ni kiite goran.
If you don’t understand, you should ask your teacher.

やったことを思いだしてごらん。
yatta koto o omoidashite goran.
Try to remember what you did.

二人とも自分を見てごらんなさいよ。
futari tomo jibun o mite goran nasai yo.
