Meaning: if only ~ then; as long as; the only thing ~ need is

Formation:

Verb-stem + さえすれば
Verb-てform + さえいれば
Noun + (で)さえあれば
いadj (remove い) + くさえあれば
なadj + に/でさえあれば

Example sentences:

薬を飲みさえすれば治ります。
You’ll get better if you take your medicine.
kusuri o nomi sae sureba naorimasu.

 

もし君さえ良ければ土曜日にも出て来てもらうかと思って。
I’m thinking of asking you to work on Saturday as well if it’s okay.
moshi kimi sae yokereba doyoubi nimo dete kite morau ka to motte.

 

天気さえよければ、よい旅行になったでしょう。
It would have been a great trip if the weather had been nice.
tenki sae yokereba, yoi ryokou ni naru deshou.
