Meaning: being too many or too much to finish or complete

Formation:

Verb-stem + 切れない

Example sentences:

ご飯の量が多くて、食切れないよ。
gohan no ryou ga ookute, tabekirenai yo.
I can’t finish the rice because there is too much.

洞窟内で埋められていた数え切れないほどの手紙が発見された。
doukutsunai de umerarete ita kazoekirenai hodo no tegami ga hakken sareta.
A countless number of letters were found burried in the cave.

いっぱい頼まないで、二人では食べ切れないから。
ippai tanomanaide, futari dewa tabekirenai kara.
Don’t order too much, the two of us can’t eat it all.

こんなに長い小説は、一日では読み切れない。
konna ni nagai shousetsu wa, ichinichi dewa yomikirenai.
I can’t finish such a long novel in one day.

Similar grammar:

かけ (kake): half-, not yet finished
抜く (nuku): to do something to the end
切る (kiru): to do something completely to the end
