himitsu no keikaku ga kanojo ni baresou ni nari, tossa ni uso o tsuite shimatta.
She was about to know about my secret plan, so I told a lie at once.

言い過ぎた、とみんながとっさにそう思った。
iisugita, to minna ga tossa ni sou omotta.
Everyone knew instantly he’d gone too far.

彼はとっさに頭を働かせた。
kare wa tossa ni atama o hatarakaseta.
His quick brain was working.

「そんなことないよ。」彼はとっさに答えた。
sonna koto nai yo. kare wa tossa ni kotaeta.
“Of course not,” he said quickly.

どこかで聞いた名だ。しかし、どこだったか、とっさには思い出せない。
dokoka de kiita na da. shikashi, doko datta ka, tossa niwa omoidasenai.
