Formation:

Verb-てform + (は)かなわない
いadj (-い) + くて(は)かなわない
なadj + で(は)かなわない

Example sentences:

隣の工事がうるさくてかなわない。
tonari no kouji ga urusakute kanawanai.
I can’t stand the noise from the construction going on next door.

階段でドスンドスンされてたんじゃ、集中しにくくてかなわない。
kaidan de dosundosun saretetan ja, shuuchuu shinikukute kanawanai.
It’s rather difficult to concentrate when people keep thundering up and down the stairs.

毎日こう寒くてはかなわない。
mainichi kou samukute wa kanawanai.
I can’t stand this cold weather every day.

一切を妻のせいにされてはかなわない。あれにはかかわりない事なんだから。
issai o tsuma no sei ni sarete wa kanawanai. are niwa kakawarinai koto nan dakara.
I won’t have the whole thing pinned on my wife. She had nothing whatever to do with it.

彼が無口で、一緒にいると退屈でかなわない。
kare ga mukuchi de, issho ni iru to taikutsu de kanawanai.
He’s a man of few words. I can’t stand being with him because it’s so boring.
