Example sentences:

電車が着くが早いか、乗客は先を競って乗り込んだ。
densha ga tsuku ga hayai ka, joukyaku wa saki o kisotte norikonda.
As soon as the train arrived, the passengers fought their way in.

彼女は手紙を取り上げるが早いか、封を切った。
kanojo wa tegami o toriageru ga hayai ka, fuu o kitta.
She snatched the letter and tore it open.

わたしの顔を見るが早いか、彼はしゃべりはじめた。
watashi no kao o omiru ga hayai ka, kare wa shaberi hajimeta.
He started talking as soon as he saw me.

授業終了のベルを聞くが早いか、生徒たちは教室を飛び出していった。
jugyou shuuryou no beru o kiku ga hayai ka, seitotachi wa kyoushitsu o tobidashite itta.
As soon as the bell that marked the end of the lesson rang, the students rushed out of the classroom.

先生が地震だと叫ぶが早いか、子供たちは机の下にもぐりこんだ。
sensei ga jishin da to sakebu ga hayai ka, kodomotachi wa tsukue no shita ni moguri konda.
The kids crawled under the table as soon as the teacher shouted “Earthquake.”

うちの子はいつも学校から帰るが早いか、遊びに行ってしまう。
uchi no ko wa itsumo gakkou kara kaeru ga hayai ka, asobi ni itte shimau.
My kid always goes out to play as soon as he returns home from school.

あの人はいつも電車に乗り込むが早いか、席を確保しようとする。
ano hito wa itsumo densha ni norikomu ga hayai ka, seki o kakuho shiyou to suru.
That person always tries to get a seat as soon as he gets into the train.
