kare wa, chuugoku gun no sonzai o kakushin shite tsutomete joukan ni keikoku shita.
He was quite sure of the Chinese presence, and he tried to warn his superiors.

記者として、私は常に物事を自分で見聞きするよう努めている。
kisha toshite, watashi wa tsune ni monogoto o jibun de mikiki suru you tsutomete iru.
As a reporter, I always try to see or hear things firsthand.
